Governed data plane

Strata
Give operational data clear boundaries.

Govern datasets, data posture, preparation, snapshots, training inputs, access, and lineage. Strata remains separate from Relay.

An illustrative governed dataset

Know which data a decision can use.

Dataset purpose, access, posture, and lineage remain explicit as operating information moves into a decision.

Dataset
Shipment records and approved carrier-capacity inputs.
Posture
Integrate-only, hybrid, or hosted, according to tenant requirements.
Access
The workflow receives only the information its scope permits.
Lineage
Source references and the preparation history stay attached.

Illustrative workflow view. Controls and integrations depend on deployment.

Set the data posture

Define how much information the platform may host or process. Strata remains part of the operating loop across integrate-only, hybrid, and hosted postures.

  • Tenant data posture
  • Storage and processing boundaries
  • Dataset access governance

Prepare trusted inputs

Give operating datasets a catalog, purpose, preparation history, and controlled snapshots so downstream decisions use identifiable inputs.

  • Dataset catalog and metadata
  • Preparation and ingestion job control
  • Feature and training snapshots

Preserve lineage

Keep source references and model-input lineage visible as data is used. Relay supplies connections; Strata governs the datasets they support.

  • Source and storage references
  • Training-input eligibility
  • Model artifact input lineage

In practice

Give every dataset a clear purpose.

Operational data needs a defined owner, permitted use, and traceable history. Strata brings those decisions into the workflow before information becomes an input to reasoning or action.

Workflow datasets

Define the shipment, order, inventory, or staffing records needed for one operating decision. Make the permitted fields and access rules explicit so the workflow uses relevant information within its agreed scope.

Model inputs

Review which datasets may support features, training, or inference. Keep snapshot and source references connected so teams can inspect the information behind a model signal used in a recommendation.

Data posture

Choose the appropriate integrate-only, hybrid, or hosted posture for the account. Establish which information stays in source systems and which information may be processed or retained in the platform.

How it works

Prepare the information behind a decision.

A useful data boundary begins with the operating purpose. The first deployment defines that purpose, the eligible records, and the evidence needed to review their use.

  1. 01

    Define purpose and access

Identify dataset ownership, account boundaries, permitted use, and the roles that need access. Agree the processing and retention expectations for the selected workflow.

  2. 02

    Prepare controlled inputs

Catalog the relevant datasets and preserve preparation history. Use identifiable snapshots where the decision or model workflow needs a stable view of its inputs.

  3. 03

    Keep lineage connected

Follow source references and input history as information supports the operating loop. A reviewer should be able to trace a decision input back to the dataset it came from.

Common questions

Understand the fit.

Is Strata only for hosted data?

No. Strata governs the data plane across integrate-only, hybrid, and hosted postures. The posture changes where information is held and processed; it does not remove the need for purpose, access, and lineage.

Does connecting a dataset approve it for model use?

No. A connection and model eligibility are separate decisions. Define the dataset purpose, access, preparation, and approval requirements before using it as a model input.

Does Strata replace a data warehouse?

Strata is the governed data plane for Yedron operating loops. Existing data platforms can remain part of the customer environment, with the integration and processing boundaries agreed for each workflow.

Start where one workflow needs clearer control.

Adoption starts with one workflow, the systems around it, the approvals it needs, and the outcome your team wants to improve.
